D.J. Deserves Thanks!

Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option wants to give a big thank you to Brad’s Karaoke & D.J. for the excellent services he recently provided at the 2012 Reunion at Southland Park Gaming and Racing.

The Southaven, Miss.-based business donated the disk-jockeying service for the reunion, which is MSGAO’s most important annual fund-raising event.

Brad’s motto says “Any event. Any time. Any place.”   Wonder if he knew a reunion of greyhound adopters and their dogs was in his future when he came up with the motto?

You can see Brad Bennett in the background of this photo of one of several contests that enlivened the reunion. He is no stranger to greyhounds since his mom is Sharon May, who adopted Megan.

Our thanks to Brad for doing a “greyt”  job!  If you need D.J. and Karaoke services, look no further than Brad.  You can check out his website at http://www.bradthedj.com/default.html.  You can reach him at: [email protected] or (901) 335-3388.

About our available greyhounds

See that smiling face on the left? It’s a link that will take you to the listings for dogs available for adoption. Right now we have eight dogs “available for adoption,” meaning they are already spayed/neutered and ready to go. What you may not realize is that the Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option kennel always has many more adoption candidates than are shown on the greyhound-data.com pages.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit the kennel behind Southland Park Gaming and Racing to see all the hounds awaiting forever homes. Please be aware you can’t just walk out with a dog immediately. If you decide to proceed with an adoption, you must first fill out the application. The application also is accessible on the main page of this website, right below the “available hounds” link.

We urge you drop by the kennel to meet the greyhound who may become the love of your life!

Reunion Changes Meet and Greet Schedule

The greyhounds who usually man, er, we mean “dog?” the Cordova Petco Meet and Greet on the second Saturday of each month are taking today off to primp for the Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option’s annual reunion tonight at Southland Park Gaming and Racing. We promise to be back next month, meeting and greeting potential greyhound adopters from noon to 2 p.m. at the Petco on Germantown Parkway!

Reunion Update!

Southland Park Gaming and Racing is asking all reunion attendees to park on the west side of the building (the left side as you face the facility) and to use the “vendor/associate” entrance due to ongoing construction. If you are near the casino entrance and valet parking area, you are heading in the right direction.

This entrance will allow for easy access to the apron, where a cocktail party will kick off the event at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13.

Please also note that greyhounds and children are prohibited from entering the gaming floor. Nor are greyhounds allowed on the apron during racing. We will be in the Kennel Club enjoying dinner and the auctions while races are being run!

Reunion Dilemma: What to Wear?

In response to inquiries about what is appropriate dress for the 2012 Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option reunion, please be assured there is no dress code. Things were different back in Southland Park Gaming and Racing’s early days when the Kennel Club (the new site for the reunion this year) was an exclusive venue. That isn’t the case nowadays.

Come as dressy or casual as you please. If you want to go along with the theme “Black, White and Shades of Grey,” please do, but it is not required in any way, for people or greyhounds!

Of course, anyone who adopted a “cowdog” or a blue has an advantage in keeping with the theme over those who own brindles and reds!

And since the new venue will have a view of the track and active racing, don’t hesitate to bring a muzzle for your honored greyhound if you are concerned he or she may be a bit overexcited by the action.

See you October 13 at 5:30 p.m. for happy hour on the apron of the racetrack!

Greyhounds Represent in 5K!

What could be more appropriate than greyhounds walking in a 5K event in support of Mid-South Community College, whose mascot is a greyhound! MSGAO was well-represented as these pictures show.
