Enter the CG Magazine Essay Contest: Adopting Again

After you say goodbye to your beloved Greyhound, how do you open your home and heart to another? It can be the easiest and the hardest decision in the world, at the same time. Have you faced this situation? How did you come to the decision to adopt again?

Celebrating Greyhounds Magazine invites you to write about your experience and enter it in its essay contest. Essays will be judged on a blind basis by a panel of reviewers. The first-, second- and third-place essays will be published in the Winter 2012 issue of CG Magazine. Essays meriting Honorable Mention may also be published as space permits.

The magazine is looking for well-written essays that capture the essence of the choice to adopt again and help the reader understand how this decision was reached. Personal accounts or reminiscences that are insightful, moving, creative, heartwarming, unusual and/or funny are all welcome.

Essays should be in the 700-1,200 word range.

Essays may be submitted either by snail mail or by e-mail. If submitting by snail mail, send your essay to CG Magazine/Editorial Office, P.O. Box 120048, Saint Paul, MN 55112. If submitting by e-mail, send your essay as an MSWord file attached to an e-mail sent to Cindy Hanson, CG’s Editor-in-Chief, at [email protected].

If your essay is chosen, Cindy will contact you about photos to illustrate your essay (in other words, you do not need to send photos with your essay).

E-mail submissions must be sent by Sept. 1; snail-mail submissions must be postmarked by that date.

Entries will not be returned.

Questions may be posted to CG’s Facebook site at www.facebook.com/cgmagazine or send an e-mail to [email protected].
