Dr Phil

Need someone to confide in? If so, the Dr. Phil is the pet for you. He’ll be right there with you on the couch, to share your joy in happy times and support you when the going gets tough. This Dr. Phil would also happily share his couch with kids and larger dogs. But even he has some issues — such as cats, as in he doesn’t like them! We don’t know where he earned his doctorate, but he has an impressive pedigree with some of the biggest names in contemporary greyhound-dom in his bloodline. Never fear, he won’t stand on ceremony. Just call him Phil, and he will come running!

What is a "blue slip?"

This is a really cool perk to adopting an ex-racer! A blue slip is an official NGA owner transfer form. MSGAO keeps these on file at the kennel. For a fee of $30 ($10 of which goes to an adoption group of your choice), your greyhound will be put in your name and you will recieve a suitable-for-framing Pet Certificate that includes the following information: official NGA race name, pet name (optional), color, sex, whelping date, two-generation pedigree, and complete bertillion (markings).

How does it work?

MSGAO keeps blue slips on file at the kennel. When you receive your blue slip, fill it out and send it to your greyhound's racing owner asking him or her to please sign it and send it back to you. It is also polite to send photos and/or a short paragraph about how the dog is doing. Our director will be able to provide you with the owner's address. Remember to please be patient as you wait for your blue slip to be sent back to you. When it arrives, send the blue slip out again, this time with a $30 check to the National Greyhound Association at P.O. Box 543, Abilene, KS 67410. Then all that's left is to wait for your official Pet Certificate to arrive!
